CHOUGACHHA, Jashore — Leaders of the Jashore district unit of Jamaat-e-Islami visited the family of Al Amin, a martyr of the July movement, in Chougachha on Thursday morning. After the visit, the leaders, accompanied by family members and local residents, paid their respects at Al Amin’s grave.
The visit was part of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s central program. Professor Golam Rasul, chief of the Jashore district Jamaat unit, led the delegation. Also present were Anwar Hossain Babu, the proud father of the martyr; Belal Hossain, assistant secretary of the Jashore district unit; Professor Golam Quddus; Maulana Golam Morshed, chief of the Chougachha upazila Jamaat unit; Maulana Nuruzzaman, secretary; Master Kamal Ahmed, assistant secretary and former panel mayor; Maulana Abdul Latif, shura member and former chairman; Maulana Sharifuhl Islam, president of the Phulsara union Jamaat unit; Master Enamul Haque, secretary; Tofazzel Hossain, former president and union parishad member; and Jamaat leaders Masud, Masum, Habibur Rahman, Maulana Fakhrul Islam, Faisal Ahmed, Mohammad Ali, Alamgir Kamal and Saiful Islam, along with members of Al Amin’s family and local residents.
Al Amin, the son of Anwar Hossain Babu, a small trader from Afra village in the Phulsara union of Chougachha, was a student at the University of Barishal. He took an active part in the anti-discrimination student-mass movement in the streets of Barishal. On the night of July 18, miscreants set fire to his home. He was severely burned and seriously injured. Local residents rescued him and took him first to Barishal Medical College Hospital and then to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He died on August 15.
