Police have arrested Abul Kashem, 65, a leader of the banned Awami League, in Chougachha, Jashore, in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
He was arrested early on Saturday (September 19) in a raid at Ararodaha village in the upazila.
Kashem is the son of the late Aminullah of Ararodaha village in Fulsara union of the upazila. He is the general secretary of the Awami League in ward 9 of Fulsara union and a former union council member. He is a retired sergeant.
Police said Kashem had been arrested in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act. He was sent to court on Saturday morning.
Chougachha police station’s officer-in-charge, Mamunur Rashid, said: “The detained accused was sent to court on Saturday morning.”
