The Islamic scholar Shaykh Ahmadullah has expressed deep concern at the heartbreaking killing of the child Apratim, coming before the country had recovered from the rape and murder of a ten-year-old girl in Pabna and the beating to death of a young man suspected of theft in Cox’s Bazar. BD Global Times is not naming the girl in Pabna.

In a post on his verified Facebook account he wrote that the whole country was stunned by the heartbreaking case of the child Apratim, coming before the country had recovered from the rape and murder of a ten-year-old girl in Pabna and the beating to death of a young man suspected of theft in Cox’s Bazar.

He asked: “When will we be able to make this land fit to live in?”

Seeking justice for the parents of the girl in Pabna and of Apratim, and for everyone who has lost someone close to them, Shaykh Ahmadullah said a culture of exemplary punishment for the guilty must develop and justice must be established in the country.

He said: “That is the Bangladesh we dream of.”
