Assistant Attorney General (AAG) Md Nurul Karim has resigned following allegations of affiliation with Awami League politics. He submitted his resignation letter to the president on Sunday. In the letter, Nurul Karim cited personal difficulties as the reason for stepping down from his position. He wrote: “Due to personal difficulties, I am no longer willing to continue serving as Assistant Attorney General. I am therefore submitting my resignation from my post. I request that my resignation be accepted.”
Meanwhile, Attorney General Ruhul Quddus Kajal said Nurul Karim was questioned about the matter after various media outlets published photos alleging his affiliation with Awami League politics. He said: “Nurul Karim resigned for personal reasons. Certain information and photos alleging his involvement with Awami League politics appeared in several media outlets. I subsequently called him in and asked about these matters. He did not deny the allegations and informed me of his decision not to continue as AAG.”
The Attorney General further said Nurul Karim submitted his resignation letter to the president citing personal reasons, and it has been accepted at his office. The resignation letter will now be forwarded to the relevant ministry for further processing.
