Pubali Bank to buy land and high-rise for 800 crore taka

The decision was taken at the company’s board of directors meeting held on July 22. The information was learned from the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

According to the data, the bank will acquire a 26-storey building under construction called the “Swiss Tower,” with three basement floors, along with 95.10 percent — or 57.64 katha — of land. The building is located at 208 Bir Uttam Mir Shawkat Road (Tejgaon Link Road) in the capital.

The bank’s total cost for acquiring the asset will be 800 crore taka. Income tax is included in this cost, but VAT is not. Pubali Bank will complete the process of acquiring the land and the building under construction subject to approval from Bangladesh Bank and other relevant regulators.

For the latest accounting year ended December 31, 2025, the bank declared a 30 percent dividend for investors — 15 percent cash and 15 percent stock. For that accounting year the bank’s earnings per share (EPS) was 8 taka 38 poisha. In the previous accounting year the EPS was 5 taka 99 poisha (restated). At the end of December 31, 2025, the bank’s net asset value per share (NAVPS) stood at 54 taka 32 poisha.

For the 2024 accounting year the bank’s board gave investors a total dividend of 25 percent — 12.50 percent cash and 12.50 percent stock. For that year Pubali Bank’s EPS was 6 taka 74 poisha, against 6 taka 1 poisha the previous year. At the end of December 31, 2024, the bank’s NAVPS stood at 46 taka 8 poisha.

For the 2023 accounting year the board gave investors a total dividend of 25 percent — 12.50 percent cash and 12.50 percent stock. For that year Pubali Bank’s EPS was 6 taka 76 poisha, against 5 taka 49 poisha the previous year. At the end of December 31, 2023, the bank’s NAVPS stood at 46 taka 33 poisha.

For the 2022 accounting year the board gave investors a 12.50 percent cash dividend. For that year Pubali Bank’s EPS was 5 taka 49 poisha, against 4 taka 23 poisha the previous year. At the end of December 31, 2022, the bank’s NAVPS stood at 41 taka 96 poisha.

Pubali Bank’s latest credit rating is “AAA” in the long term and “ST-1” in the short term. This was certified by Credit Rating Information and Services PLC (CRISL) on the basis of the audited financial statements for the accounting year ended December 31, 2025, the unaudited financial statements up to March 31 of the 2026 accounting year, and other relevant qualitative and quantitative information up to the day the rating was announced.

Listed on the capital market in 1984, Pubali Bank has an authorised capital of 2,000 crore taka and a paid-up capital of 1,561 crore 72 lakh 20 thousand taka. It has 5,507 crore 82 lakh taka in reserves. Its total number of shares is 1,561,721,842. Of these, 31.87 percent are held by sponsor-directors. In addition, institutional investors hold 24.57 percent, foreign investors 0.05 percent and general investors the remaining 43.51 percent.
