DSE turnover at Tk 699 crore as indices rise

Trading on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the country’s main bourse, ended with indices rising. A total of 204,662,608 shares and units of 387 companies and mutual funds changed hands, with turnover of Tk 6,991,183,428, about Tk 699.12 crore.

On Wednesday (September 30), the benchmark DSE Broad Index (DSEX) rose 26.19 points from the previous trading day to 5,550.44. The DS30 rose 13.86 points to 2,108.45 and the DSE Shariah index (DSES) rose 4.47 points to 1,102.49. Of the issues traded, 190 gained, 130 declined and 67 were unchanged.

The top 10 by turnover were Paramount Textile, Bangladesh National Insurance, Beximco Pharmaceuticals, IDLC Finance, Saiham Textile, BRAC Bank, Sharp Industries, Nitol Insurance, Evince Textiles and Envoy Textiles.

The top 10 gainers were Samata Leather, SK Trims, Phoenix Finance 1st Mutual Fund, IBBL Mudaraba Perpetual Bond, Delta Spinners, Sonali Life Insurance, Hamid Fabrics, Peoples Leasing, Paramount Textile and Al-Haj Textile.

The top 10 losers included a 20-year Bangladesh Government Treasury Bond, a 20-year BGTB, Familytex (BD), Midas Finance, Meghna Pet Industries, Orion Pharma, Prime Finance, Anlima Yarn Dyeing, Nurani Dyeing and a 15-year BGTB. Market capitalisation stood at about Tk 6.87 lakh crore.
