GAIBANDHA — A 40-year-old farmer was electrocuted while connecting a paddy threshing machine to a power source in Sadullapur upazila of Gaibandha on Sunday morning, local authorities said.
The victim was identified as Zafar Ali, son of Haider Ali of Paika village under Khorddakomorpur union. The incident occurred Sunday morning in Paika village.
Family members said Zafar Ali made a living through farming and ran a clothing shop at the local Dholbhanga bazar. He was connecting the threshing machine to a power line Sunday morning when he was electrocuted.
Atoyar Rahman, member of Ward 7 of Khorddakomorpur Union Parishad, confirmed the incident. “Zafar Ali was electrocuted while trying to start a paddy threshing machine. Such incidents are extremely painful,” he said.
A.K.M. Habibul Islam Habib, officer-in-charge of Sadullapur police station, said: “I received a message about the death by electrocution. The matter is being looked into.”
