Actor Bapparaj has called for unity among film artists ahead of the upcoming Bangladesh Film Artists Association election. He also commented openly on the trend of using bodyguards in the film industry.
At a recent press conference, Bapparaj said: “Security arrangements for artists were never really a concern. Some arrangements have been made in recent times. But in the past, security forces were perhaps brought in to show off strength. We artists do not need security. We never go around with bodyguards. But people who have done no films, who have not done five films, who have no following, walk around with two or three bodyguards. We do not walk around with bodyguards, and there is no need for it.”
Addressing fellow artists, he said: “We artists are all one. There is no division among us. We are all like a family. We want to remain united. We sat together a few days ago. I told my panel and those running against us that we will not enter into divisions. We will not speak against one another. We will not say cutting words to hurt anyone. I want the election to be held in a spirit of celebration.”
