Dr. Yunus leaves Dhaka for Paris on Turkish Airlines flight

Former chief adviser of the interim government Dr. Muhammad Yunus left Dhaka for Paris on Wednesday morning. He departed at 6:50 a.m. on a Turkish Airlines flight, with a transit stop in Istanbul before reaching Paris, sources said.

A source at Shahjalal International Airport confirmed the departure. Dr. Yunus was given VIP treatment at the airport, the source said. He flew Turkish Airlines toward Istanbul on Wednesday morning. The purpose and schedule of his trip were not immediately known.

Dr. Yunus took over as chief adviser of the interim government formed after the 2024 mass uprising led by students and citizens. Bangladesh held its 12th parliamentary election on Feb. 12, 2026.

On Feb. 17, Dr. Yunus formally handed power to the newly elected government.
