Farmer’s body recovered from Sati river in Lalmonirhat

Police have recovered the body of a farmer, Shishu Barman, 50, from the Sati river in Kaliganj upazila, Lalmonirhat. He was the son of Tarak Nath Chandra of the Harram area of the upazila. Local sources said Shishu Barman left home on Friday (17 July) morning to plant rice seedlings and did not return; his family searched for him in various places but found no trace.

On Saturday (18 July) morning, locals saw a body floating in the Sati river in Harram Purbapara village and informed police, who recovered it. Local union member Sohel Rana said Shishu Barman had been missing since Friday morning and his body was seen floating in the river on Saturday morning; locals believe he drowned while crossing the river. Kaliganj police OC (investigation) Osman Gani said police had recovered the body on locals’ information, and that as the family had no complaint, the body was handed to relatives after the necessary legal process.
