Nearly 7,000 farmers in Raipur upazila, Lakshmipur, received free agriculture inputs under the government’s 2025-26 agriculture incentive program. The distribution ceremony was inaugurated Friday (July 3) at the upazila field ground, organized by the sub-district Department of Agricultural Extension.

Lakshmipur-2 MP Abul Khayer Bhuiyan attended as chief guest. Raipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mehedi Hasan Kaushar presided over the event. Upazila Agriculture Officer Mazedul Islam and local political leaders also attended.

According to the agriculture extension office, 6,930 farmers received transplant amon rice seeds and fertilizer, summer hybrid vegetable seeds and fertilizer, hybrid chili seeds with fertilizer and pesticides, fruit and lemon saplings, organic and cow-dung fertilizer, and bamboo poles. Additionally, 10,450 saplings and seeds were distributed to farmers and students from various schools and colleges, to be planted across approximately 542 hectares.

MP Bhuiyan said the program fulfills the government’s election promises. “The BNP government has exempted farmers from loans and provided approximately Tk 12,000 crore in subsidies for the agriculture sector. Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman gave special priority to agriculture to build Bangladesh as an agriculture-based country,” he said.
