Prime minister extends greetings to Trump on US 250th Independence Day

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has congratulated US President Donald Trump on the United States’ 250th Independence Day, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

In his message, the prime minister extended greetings on behalf of the Bangladesh government, its people, and himself, describing the milestone as historic. He expressed hope that the United States would continue to prosper under President Trump’s leadership.

The prime minister said the “America 250” celebrations had become a source of inspiration worldwide, citing American values of sacrifice, freedom, heritage, culture, and the country’s global contributions.

On bilateral relations, the prime minister said the United States had been an important friend and development partner since Bangladesh’s independence. Over the past five decades, the relationship had grown into a “strong and multidimensional partnership” spanning trade, investment, education, defense, and people-to-people ties.

He noted significant progress in trade, energy cooperation, and investment since the beginning of this year, marking a “new chapter” in Bangladesh-US relations. He also expressed gratitude for the United States’ continued support in addressing the Rohingya crisis.

The prime minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening the partnership with President Trump’s administration across areas of mutual interest. He wished the president good health, longevity, and continued success, and the American people peace, prosperity, and happiness.
