At least seven people have been killed in separate road accidents across Bangladesh, according to police and local sources.
In Golapganj, Sylhet, an auto-rickshaw passenger, Akhdas Ali, was killed when a pickup struck the vehicle on Thursday night, and his wife and two children were injured. The accident happened in the Karampur Gate area of Fulbari union on the Sylhet-Jakiganj road, and the injured were taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
In Dhanbari, Tangail, a motorcycle rider, Rita Akter, was killed and two others, including her husband, were seriously injured when a Jamalpur-bound motorcycle collided with a Dhaka-bound bus on the Tangail-Jamalpur regional highway on Friday morning.
In Dhaka, a grocery-shop worker, Humayun Kabir, died while returning by motorcycle from Mawa with friends when an accident occurred at the Postogola Bridge early Friday; a friend was injured. He was declared dead at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
In Kaliakair, Gazipur, a motorcyclist, Babul Ghosh, was killed in a collision with an auto-rickshaw in the Latipur area on Thursday afternoon. In Sitakunda, Chattogram, a car driver was killed on Friday morning when a private car lost control on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway, crossed the divider into the opposite lane and collided with a covered van; police could not immediately confirm his identity. And in Nandigram, Bogura, a driver, Abdus Salam, was killed in a truck-covered van collision on the Bogura-Natore highway near Singjani Bazar on Friday morning.
