Police in Fatullah, Narayanganj, have recovered a private car stolen from a parking area and arrested three members of an inter-district car-theft gang. Two private cars, including the stolen one, and a microbus were recovered.
District Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Munshi gave the information at a press conference on Saturday (27 June) afternoon.
Police said that on Monday (22 June), a 2006-model Toyota X Corolla private car used by Mohammad Arif was stolen from a parking area in front of the new district court. He later filed a case against unidentified accused at Fatullah Model police station.
In the case investigation, a team led by SI Md Rafiq and SI Nandan Chandra Sarkar identified the gang’s members through information-technology support, CCTV-footage analysis and intelligence.
The arrested are Muktar Hossain, 48; Md Mominur Rahman, also known as Liton, 42; and Alauddin, 36. Muktar was arrested from the Delpara Chitashal area of Fatullah on Thursday (25 June) night, and the other two from the Nangalkot area of Cumilla early on Friday (26 June).
Police said the arrested were active members of an inter-district car-theft gang, and that on the basis of information they provided, the stolen Toyota X Corolla, another Noah microbus and a private car had been recovered.
Police said the arrested accused had been sent to court after the completion of legal steps against them.
