The municipal unit of the BNP has held a protest march and rally in Jhalakathi against the terror and anarchy of the banned Awami League.

The programme was held on Monday (June 22) morning, setting out from in front of the district BNP office under the leadership of the municipal BNP general secretary, Md Anichur Rahman Tapu.

The protest march began in front of the party office, circled the city’s main roads and ended at the Fire Service intersection.

The angry activists were seen chanting various slogans, including ‘The banned Awami League will have no place in this Bangla’ and ‘Catch the League one by one, and put them in jail one by one.’

At the rally, the municipal BNP general secretary, Md Anichur Rahman Tapu, said: ‘This protest rally today is in protest against the terror and anarchy of the banned Awami League. If they make any attempt to destabilise the country, none of them will be spared. Wherever you are, there will be no benefit in sitting in India and inciting trouble.’

Issuing a warning, he added: ‘In the coming days too, such tough programmes will continue from the party. In that continuity, protest marches will again be held tomorrow (Tuesday) morning and afternoon against terror and anarchy.’
