The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for filing online VAT returns on the e-VAT system for the July and August 2026 tax periods to October 15. No penalty will be imposed on firms that file within the deadline.
The information was given in an NBR order on Thursday (October 1).
The order said that because the revised VAT return provisions in the 2026-27 national budget allowed returns to be filed after every three tax periods, various firms had not filed returns for July and August 2026 on the e-VAT system.
Using the powers in section 64(3) of the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act, 2012, the deadline has been extended to October 15 for firms that have not yet filed July and August returns on the e-VAT system. The firms must file returns for the July, August and September 2026 tax periods on the e-VAT system by October 15, 2026, the NBR said.
The order was issued in the public interest, it said.
