CHOUGACHHA — A 42-year-old farmer was killed by lightning in Chougachha of Jashore district on Thursday evening, officials said.
Abu Taher’s charred body was recovered from a paddy field in Andulia village of the upazila on Thursday (April 16) evening.
The victim, Abu Taher, was the son of Abul Khayer of Andulia village and worked in agriculture.
Billal Hussain, the victim’s uncle and a madrasa teacher, said Taher left home in the afternoon to check on his paddy field after rain and storms. When the rain and thunder resumed a short time later, he did not return home. Family members began searching for him, and his charred body was recovered from a path between paddy fields by evening.
Habibur Rahman Habi, chairman of the Sukhpukuria union parishad, confirmed the incident.
