Vandals cut down more than 100 banana trees belonging to farmer Noyon Pramanik in Shibganj, Bogura, under cover of darkness. A complaint has been filed at the police station over the incident.
The incident occurred Monday night, August 17, on the land of Noyon Pramanik, a prominent businessman and farmer, in the Teghori neighborhood of the upazila’s municipal area.
The victim said the Champa variety banana trees had been planted with great care. But at some point Monday night, unknown individuals, acting out of enmity, cut down and destroyed more than 100 trees. The trees had begun bearing fruit. He said the damage amounts to roughly Tk 50,000 to 60,000, and demanded an investigation and punishment for those responsible.
Shibganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahinuzzaman Shahin said the complaint had been received and that the necessary legal action would be taken pending investigation.
