The body of Ishiyat Shahriar Apratim, 13, the missing son of Dr Nahida Begum, an associate professor in the Bengali department at Cumilla University (CoU), has been recovered. The body was found on Saturday afternoon in the Jangal Lalmai Sananda hill area next to the campus.
Over the boy’s disappearance, his father, K M Firoz Shahriar, had filed a general diary (GD) at Cumilla Sadar South police station. Apratim had walked out of the family’s home in the Kotbari area of Ward 24, under Sadar South police station, at around 3:30pm on Friday (September 18), and never returned home.
Ishiyat Shahriar Apratim was the son of K M Firoz Shahriar of the Kotbari Gandhamati area in Ward 24 of the city corporation, and a seventh-grade student at Border Guard Public School.
His mother, Dr Nahida Begum, had written in a Facebook post: “I have not been able to find my son since 3pm. His name is Apratim. He is 13, and studies in class seven.”
