Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan said a social-media claim that the ban on the Awami League would be lifted is not true. He said it was part of a rumour.

He made the remarks at an International Youth Day event on Wednesday morning (August 12).

The minister said existing complexities with India could be resolved and that the governments of both countries would work to address any problem.

He said young people must accept new challenges at every level and that the current prime minister was making the greatest possible effort to develop the youth. Young people are the main strength of a country and nation and a blessing for a country. The current era is one of information technology, and the world is entering the age of artificial intelligence.

He said the strength of young people adds a positive dimension to a country’s development and that youth worldwide are the greatest force.

At the same event, State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque said the government was working so that young people and women could create employment for themselves through freelancing from home.
