DHAKA — Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for April in recognition of his outstanding performance in the One Day International series against New Zealand.

The right-arm fast bowler took 8 wickets in the three-match series against New Zealand. He had taken the same number of wickets against Pakistan the previous month.

It is the first time Nahid has won the ICC’s monthly award. He is the first Tigers cricketer to earn the honor since last year.

Reacting to the award, Nahid said being named ICC Player of the Month after performing well against a strong side like New Zealand was a moment of great pride. Achieving such success at home made the series even more special, he said.

The pacer was expensive in the first ODI but bounced back strongly in the second match, taking the second five-wicket haul of his career. He then took crucial wickets in the third and final ODI to help Bangladesh win the series 2-1. He was also named player of the series for his performance.
