Olympic Industries to buy 102 decimals of land in Araihazar for Tk2.29 crore

Olympic Industries PLC, a company listed on the capital market, has decided to buy 102 decimals of land (about 1.02 acres) to expand its business in future.

The company said its board decided to buy the land at a meeting on Monday. The 102 decimals of land will be bought in the Brahmandi-37 mouza of Araihazar thana in Narayanganj. The total purchase price has been set at Tk2 crore 29 lakh 50 thousand (about Tk22.95 million, or roughly $190,000).

According to the DSE announcement, the land will be bought in the company’s name, from owners Zaman Miah, Md Moniruzzaman Bhuiyan and others. It will be used to build the structures needed to expand the business in future.

The DSE announcement also said Olympic Industries will bear the VAT, tax and all other costs of registering the land.

This year the company bought about 19.25 decimals of land in Madanpur, in Narayanganj’s Bandar thana, at a total price of about Tk57.75 lakh (5.775 million).

On the back of this expansion announcement, Olympic Industries’ share price rose on the DSE on the day of the report, with a day’s high of Tk154 and a low of Tk152.90. The company paid a 30 percent cash dividend in 2025, 10 percent in 2024 and 60 percent in 2023.

Listed on the stock market in 1989, Olympic Industries is classed as an A-category company with strong fundamentals. It holds a large share of the country’s biscuit and confectionery market, with familiar brands including Energy, Nutty, Tip and Lexus biscuits as well as batteries.

According to the unaudited financial statements for the first nine months of the past financial year (July 2025 to March 2026), the company’s earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk7.41, down from Tk10.06 in 2024-25.

Olympic Industries currently has a total of 199,938,886 shares (about 19.99 crore). As of 31 July, 37.38 percent were held by sponsors and directors, 22.85 percent by institutional investors, 27.51 percent by foreign investors and 12.26 percent by general investors.
