Saudi Arabia has deported 12,292 people for violating residency, labor, and border security laws as part of an intensified nationwide crackdown on illegal residence and border-related crimes, Gulf News reported Sunday citing a Saudi interior ministry statement.

The ministry said an additional 16,912 people have been referred to their respective diplomatic missions to obtain travel documents, while 4,174 others have been sent to complete tickets and reservations ahead of deportation proceedings.

The ministry warned that assisting illegal border crossers through transport, shelter, or any other form of support constitutes a serious offense carrying up to 15 years in prison, fines of up to 1 million Saudi riyals, and seizure of vehicles or property used in the crime.

A joint security operation conducted from June 25 to July 1 detained a total of 15,591 people — 7,759 for residency law violations, 4,488 for border security law violations, and 3,344 for labor law violations.
