A seven-year-old first-grade student died in a road accident in Chougachha upazila, Jashore, while going to see a monkey.
The accident occurred on Monday (July 7) morning in front of Marua Dakshin Sagar Government Primary School in the upazila.
The child was a resident of Marua village in the upazila and a first-grade student at Marua Dakshin Sagar Government Primary School.
Local residents and the child’s relatives said a monkey had been wandering in the residential area. The child was running along the road with a few other neighborhood children to see it when an auto-rickshaw struck him, leaving him critically injured.
Residents rushed him to Chougachha Upazila Health Complex, where the attending physician declared him dead.
Chougachha police station officer-in-charge Mamunur Rashid confirmed the incident.
