Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attended the funeral procession and mourning march for former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran.
Ahmadinejad, known for his conservative political stance, was long considered deeply loyal to Khamenei. He previously served as a commander in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
As a student, Ahmadinejad was associated with a hardline faction of the “Office for Strengthening Unity,” a conservative student organization formed after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. He later emerged as one of the most prominent figures in Iran’s conservative political establishment.
Political, military, and religious leaders from across the country, along with large numbers of ordinary citizens, participated in the farewell procession.
