Three more children have died with measles symptoms. Over the same period, 1,063 children came to hospital with measles or measles symptoms.

The information was given in a measles report from the Health Emergency Operations and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Sunday, June 21.

It said three more children had died with measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, but that no child had died of confirmed measles.

That brings the total number of children who have died with measles symptoms since March 15 to 587. A further 93 children have died from confirmed measles — meaning 680 children in all have died of measles or measles symptoms.

In the past 24 hours, 62 children were infected with confirmed measles, while patients with measles symptoms numbered 1,001. Over the same period, 957 children were newly admitted to hospital and 879 were discharged.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services, the total number of suspected measles cases from March 15 to date stands at 92,790, with 11,011 confirmed cases. Of these, 76,859 patients were admitted to hospital, of whom 72,849 have since been discharged and returned home.
