On behalf of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the kingdom’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs has begun distributing copies of the Holy Quran and its translations to pilgrims and to staff working at the Hajj field level.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the distribution has begun in the departure lounges of King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.

Foreign pilgrims are being handed the gift before boarding flights home. A total of 1.9 million copies of the Quran, printed at the King Fahd Quran Printing Complex in Medina, will be distributed among the pilgrims.

So that pilgrims can understand the message of the Quran in their mother tongue, copies have been supplied with translations in more than 80 languages.

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs said the distribution will continue around the clock at all of the country’s airports, land ports and seaports in the coming days.

Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs Sheikh Abdul Latif Al Sheikh said the gift is an expression of the leadership’s sincere effort to spread the message of the Holy Quran across the world.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Passports said full preparations and high capacity have been maintained at all land, air and sea ports to ensure pilgrims can return home smoothly after the Hajj. It urged all international pilgrims to follow their scheduled travel itineraries strictly.

According to Saudi authorities, the total number of pilgrims taking part in the 2026 Hajj reached 1,707,310 — 2.04 percent higher than last year. Of them, 1,546,655 were foreign pilgrims who arrived by various routes, while domestic pilgrims, including Saudi citizens and residents, numbered 160,646.
