Speaking to reporters Monday, August 17, following an event in Dhaka, the education minister said transfers for teachers currently working in remote locations will be arranged before new teacher recruitment begins. The transfer process will start soon, after which the process for recruiting new teachers will proceed.

The education minister said preparations for teacher recruitment have largely begun across all areas. A teacher shortage has persisted for a long time, with roughly 32,000 head teacher posts vacant at primary schools alone. Related litigation on this matter has now been resolved.

He further said the legal complications that arose after the written examination for public school head teacher recruitment concluded have also been resolved. Oral examinations for these posts will be arranged soon.

The minister also said the process of disbursing teachers’ retirement benefits has begun nationwide.
