The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has again raised the price of gold in the domestic market. In its latest adjustment, the price of one bhori of 22-carat gold was set at Tk 2,24,940, an increase of Tk 6,590.
BAJUS announced the change in a statement on Saturday morning. The new prices take effect from 10 a.m. on Saturday.
The statement said the price of pure gold had risen in the local market. Taking the overall situation into account, the new gold prices were set accordingly.
Under the new rates, one bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold will cost Tk 2,24,940 in the domestic market. The price of 21-carat gold was set at Tk 2,14,734 a bhori, 18-carat at Tk 1,84,058 a bhori and traditional-method gold at Tk 1,49,882 a bhori.
Earlier, the association last adjusted gold prices on the morning of June 11. At that time it cut the price of one bhori of 22-carat gold by Tk 4,432, setting it at Tk 2,18,350. It also set 21-carat gold at Tk 2,08,436 a bhori, 18-carat at Tk 1,78,692 a bhori and traditional-method gold at Tk 1,45,508 a bhori. Those rates took effect from 10 a.m. that day.
With this change, gold prices have been adjusted 74 times in the domestic market so far this year. Prices were raised on 38 occasions and cut on 36.
