The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced a cut in gold prices in the domestic market. The price of gold jewellery, including VAT, has been reduced by up to Tk 1,691 a bhori.
BAJUS announced the change in a notice on Monday. The new prices took effect from 10am on the same day.
Under the new price list, the best-quality 22-carat gold jewellery now costs Tk 2,29,081 a bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT. The price on Sunday was Tk 2,30,772.
The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 2,18,817 a bhori and 18-carat gold will sell at Tk 1,87,907 a bhori, while gold made by the traditional method has been priced at Tk 1,53,498 a bhori.
Silver prices are unchanged despite the cut in gold. A bhori of 22-carat silver costs Tk 4,316, 21-carat Tk 4,141, 18-carat Tk 3,558 and traditional-method silver Tk 2,683.
