WASHINGTON — A U.S. delegation will travel to Pakistan for negotiations and arrive in Islamabad on Monday evening, President Donald Trump said in a social media post.

The U.S. representatives will begin talks with the relevant parties after they arrive in Islamabad, Trump said. He added that the United States is offering a “fair and reasonable” deal and that he expects the other side to accept it. He also signaled tough action if the proposal is rejected.

Trump warned that the situation could become difficult if the talks fail and that the United States could take action against strategically important sites. Some targets could be damaged very quickly and easily, he said.

Analysts said the talks have generated fresh diplomatic tension on the international stage.
