Stocks surge as turnover hits Tk 1,371 crore

Both the index and turnover showed an upward trend on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on the first trading day of the week.

A review of the DSE market showed that on Sunday, a total of 44 crore 71 lakh 50 thousand 782 shares and mutual fund units of 394 companies changed hands, with total turnover reaching Tk 1,371 crore 3 lakh 82 thousand 638.

At the end of the day, the DSE Broad Index (DSEX) stood at 5,719.76 points, up 66.94 points from the previous trading day. The DSE-30 index rose 31.41 points to 2,162.57, and the DSES Shariah index rose 13.31 points to 1,156.96.

Of the companies traded, 213 gained in price, 133 fell and 48 remained unchanged.

The top 10 companies by turnover were Beximco Pharma, NCC Bank, ITC, Dominage Steel, IPDC, BRAC Bank, City Bank, BD Thai, Square Pharma and another Beximco Pharma-related security.

The top 10 gainers were Beximco Pharma, Desh Garments, Indo-Bangla Pharma, Far East Knitting, Crown Cement, Dominage Steel, Intra Leasing, ITC, Prime Finance First Mutual Fund and Midland Bank.

The top 10 losers were Daffodil Computers, CAPM IBBL Mutual Fund, Reliance Insurance, National Feeds, Sunlife Insurance, Meghna Condensed Milk, SK Trims, Tunghai Industries, Generation Next and Regent Textile.
