Lionel Messi’s emotional moment after losing the FIFA World Cup final to Spain touched Dhaka film actress Sharmin Joha Shoshi as it did millions of fans. Moved by Messi’s tears after the match, she posted a heartfelt status on Facebook that has drawn wide discussion among fans.

The “Hajar Bachhor Dhore” actress opened her post by expressing her love for Messi: “I have loved you, I love you, and I will always love you. You are the greatest of all time. Messi, please don’t cry.”

Calling herself an Argentina supporter, Shoshi wrote that no one gets everything in life, and so a single defeat can never dim Messi’s extraordinary achievements and legendary status. “Today may not have been your day. But that doesn’t make you any less. Your small imperfections make you even more beautiful.”

As Spain celebrated the title after the final, the actress shared her own feelings: “While Spain was busy celebrating, I stood in the crowd staring only at the No. 10 jersey on the television screen. My eyes were fixed there.”

Praising Messi’s leadership and performance throughout the tournament, Shoshi said Messi himself taught how to accept victory and defeat, and thanked the Argentine captain for the extraordinary football he gave.

She ended by reaffirming her love for Messi and Argentina: “Today will fade one day, but Messi will never fade. So there is still one cry on my lips — Messi is the greatest of all time, and Argentina the best.”

Countless Argentina and Messi supporters echoed the post, many commenting that a single defeat can never dim Lionel Messi’s legendary career or the love for him.
