TEHRAN — Iran has loaded about 4.6 million barrels of crude oil at its export terminals, the maritime analytics firm TankerTrackers said, indicating that the country is continuing oil exports despite a U.S. naval blockade.
The figures were drawn from satellite imagery used to monitor tanker movements and port activity, the firm said.
The loading gives Iran several additional days of storage capacity, easing some of the immediate pressure on its export operations, TankerTrackers said.
The report comes as the United States is taking steps to limit Iran’s oil exports and tighten maritime control in the region.
