MADARIPUR — Madaripur district Detective Branch police arrested two suspected drug dealers in a special operation, seizing 21 kilograms of cannabis, 195 yaba tablets and 52,500 taka in cash, officials said.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the district police media cell on Saturday.
Police said officers raided the Chairman Hat intersection bazaar area at 9 p.m. on Friday and detained Md. Shahadat Hossain, 55, with 20 kilograms of cannabis. He is from the Shashangachha area of Cumilla’s Sadar South upazila but currently lives in the Moral Kanda area of Faridpur’s Bhanga upazila, police said.
The same day, at 4 p.m., police conducted a separate raid in the Chanpatti area of the upazila and arrested Md. Rubel Khan, 30, a drug dealer, with 195 yaba tablets, 1 kilogram of cannabis and 52,500 taka in cash, officials said.
Legal action against the two is being processed, police said, adding that the district police’s operations against drugs, teenage gangs, militants and extortionists will continue.
