JHENAIDAH — A 35-year-old homemaker was killed by lightning while working behind her house in Bathangachhi village of Maheshpur upazila in Jhenaidah district on Thursday, police said.
The victim, Rozina Khatun, was the wife of village resident Mizanur Rahman. The incident occurred at noon Thursday in Bathangachhi village of the upazila.
Relatives said Rozina was working beside her kitchen at noon when rain suddenly began and she was seriously injured by a lightning strike. Local residents rescued her and took her to the Maheshpur upazila health complex, where the attending physician declared her dead.
Mehedi Hasan, officer-in-charge of Maheshpur police station, confirmed the report and said police were sent to the site after the incident was reported. A general diary has been filed at Maheshpur police station, he said.
