Every World Cup, neighborhoods across Bangladesh erupt in passionate support for Brazil and Argentina — flags go up, heated debates break out, and the tournament becomes a festival of its own. A new web series, “Brazentina Club,” captures that familiar reality with humor.
The series, directed by Tariq Muhammad Hasan, stars Bangladesh national football team captain Jamal Bhuiyan in his acting debut, alongside Tasnuva Tisha, Lamima Lam, Sharaf Ahmed Jibon, Sahid Un Nabi, and Ishtiak Ahmed Romel.
Director Hasan said: “We’ve portrayed the funny incidents that happen in Bangladeshi neighborhoods every time the World Cup comes around.”
Jamal Bhuiyan, who has previously appeared in advertisements but never in a drama or series, described the experience as “magical.” “Acting in front of the camera is not easy,” he said.
He said he would welcome any audience reaction to his performance. “If viewers make fun of my acting, create memes, or troll me — I have no objection,” he said.
The series will stream on the OTT platform iScreen from July 7.
