Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has blamed Israel for the current regional war. He also stressed continued Turkish support for Syria.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, Erdogan described Israel as the root cause and instigator of the ongoing war in the Middle East.

According to Iran’s state news agency, Erdogan, discussing the “Mecca” defense pact signed between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, said the agreement is not limited to just the three countries. Egypt and other countries could also join if they wish.

On the war surrounding Iran, he said Ankara “completely” opposes war in the region and stands for peace.

Erdogan further said Israel is the main cause and primary party to this war, and that Tel Aviv has always encouraged the path of war. As a result, he said, countries in the region have had to pay a heavy price.
