At least 11 people were killed when a small civilian aircraft crashed in the eastern French town of Tomblaine. The accident happened in the Tomblaine municipal area, near Nancy-Essey airport, on Sunday (28 June) morning, local time.
News agency AFP reported that the exact number of passengers and crew on board could not immediately be confirmed.
French authorities earlier said a civilian aircraft that had taken off from Nancy-Essey airport was involved in the accident.
The Meurthe-et-Moselle prefecture said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that a civilian aircraft had crashed in Tomblaine municipality.
Governor Yves Seguy was at the scene monitoring the situation, and all operational emergency services had been activated to deal with the emergency, it was said.
