79,246 students awarded primary scholarships

A total of 79,246 students across the country have won Talent Pool and General scholarships in the results of the 2025 primary scholarship examination. Although the policy had provided for 82,500 scholarships, 3,254 remained unfilled for various reasons.

The information was given at a press briefing at the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education on Sunday (July 12).

Under the Primary Scholarship Examination Policy 2026, of the 82,500 scholarships, 33,000 were Talent Pool scholarships and 49,500 General. Of the Talent Pool scholarships, 80 percent were set aside for students of government primary schools and 20 percent for private schools. For the General scholarships, 39,600 were reserved for government schools at five per union and ward, and 20 percent for private schools on an upazila basis.

The ministry said 78,810 schools across the country took part in the 2025 primary scholarship examination held in April 2026, of which 65,605 were government and 13,205 private schools.

The total number of registered examinees was 645,041, of whom 256,117 were boys and 388,924 girls. A total of 419,982 sat the exam, or 65.11 percent of registered examinees. Of those present, 344,127 were from government schools and 75,855 from private schools; 166,641 (39.68 percent) were boys and 253,341 (60.32 percent) girls.

According to the published results, 32,965 students won Talent Pool scholarships, of whom 26,375 were from government schools and 6,590 from private schools. A further 46,281 students won General scholarships, of whom 36,420 were from government schools and 9,861 from private schools.

Of the 79,246 scholarship winners in all, 35,892 (45.29 percent) were boys and 43,354 (54.71 percent) girls.

At the briefing, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education said the primary scholarship examination was not merely a system for assessing students’ merit but an important step in shaping them into competitive, creative and responsible citizens, and thanked all the students, teachers, parents, technical experts, media workers and others involved in successfully completing the exercise.
