TEHRAN — Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused the Pentagon of lying about the cost of the war the Trump administration imposed on Iran. He alleged that the United States is concealing the true economic damage of the war that Donald Trump started on Feb. 28 alongside Benjamin Netanyahu.
In a post on the social media platform X, Araghchi wrote: “Netanyahu’s gamble has so far cost America $100 billion directly. Yet the actual cost is four times what the United States is claiming.”
Araghchi further claimed that the indirect cost of the war to American taxpayers is much higher.
“The monthly cost to every American family is currently $500 and rising rapidly,” he said.
“‘Israel First’ policy has always proven to be ‘America Last,'” he said, criticizing Washington’s current policies and pointing to the heavy financial burden the war is placing on ordinary Americans.
