Oman to launch free 14-day tourist visa

Oman has announced a free 14-day tourist visa under new rules to make its tourism sector more attractive and accessible.

Gulf News reported that the new rules took effect through Royal Oman Police order No. 109/2026, signed by the Inspector General of Police and Customs, Lieutenant General Hassan bin Mohsin al-Shraiqi. The move was made as an amendment to the executive regulations of the foreign nationals’ residence law.

Under the new rules, eligible nationals of certain countries can enjoy a 14-day tourist visa with no fee, though they must meet the conditions set by the relevant authorities.

Notably, before this visa expires, visitors who wish to can convert it to any other tourist visa category, subject to the applicable rules and payment of fees.

The new visa category has been added to Article 10 of the executive regulations and Article 29 of the official schedule of entry visas, with its fee set at zero Omani rials. However, the Omani authorities have not yet published a specific list of which countries’ nationals will get this free visa.

The new step is part of a long-term plan to make entry to the country easier and smoother for international travellers.
