Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has set off for New York in the United States to take part in the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Speaking to journalists before leaving the capital, Tehran, on Tuesday (September 22), he made clear that Iran would put its rights and its position firmly before the international community, without conceding in the slightest.
President Pezeshkian delivered a hard message on the long-running dispute with the United States and the heated situation around the Strait of Hormuz. According to a report by Iran’s Tasnim news agency, he said no independent nation can ever be held down by applying pressure or using force.
Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi is already in New York to oversee the visit’s arrangements. He arrived there on Monday and is making the main preparations to lead Iran’s delegation at the United Nations.
