Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi set off from Tehran for New York on Sunday afternoon to attend the session of the United Nations General Assembly.
On the way to New York he broke his journey in the Qatari capital, Doha. There he held discussions and consultations on the recent regional situation. The 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly is being held this time under the theme of restoring trust and meeting change: an effective United Nations for all.
The General Assembly’s high-level general debate will be held in New York from September 22 to 26 and on September 28. Leaders from countries around the world will take part and discuss various important international matters.
The agenda for this session also includes high-level meetings on tackling climate change, development, rising sea levels, preparedness for dealing with pandemics and other globally important subjects.
