Young man hacked to death in home invasion in Narsingdi

A young man was hacked to death after intruders entered his home in Monohardi, Narsingdi.

The incident occurred Saturday morning, August 22, in Kirtibashdi village, Doulatpur union, in the upazila, said Jahangir Badsha, officer-in-charge of Monohardi police station.

The victim, Akash Mia, 23, was the son of Aftab Uddin of Kirtibashdi village, Doulatpur union.

Police said, citing local residents and the victim’s family, that Akash’s father, Aftab Uddin, had woken his son that morning before heading out to a field to cut grass.

His mother also left around the same time for urgent work in a neighboring village.

When Aftab Uddin returned home, he found Akash lying in a pool of blood. With help from neighbors, he was being taken to Monohardi Upazila Health Complex when he died on the way.

OC Jahangir Badsha said: “We inspected the scene after receiving the news. The body has been recovered and sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital.”

Preparations for a case are under way, the OC said, and efforts are continuing to determine the motive for the killing and identify those involved.
