The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has adjusted gold prices in the domestic market again after the price of pure gold rose. Under the new decision, the price of a bhori of gold has increased by Tk1,108. Including VAT, a bhori of 22-carat gold now costs Tk235,146.

BAJUS announced the new rate in a notice on Tuesday (August 11) morning. The revised price took effect at 10am the same day.

BAJUS said the price of pure gold had risen in the local market. It set the new price after considering the overall market situation.

Under the new rate, a bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold costs Tk235,146 including VAT. BAJUS last adjusted prices on August 8, when it raised the price by Tk4,374 per bhori and set the price of 22-carat gold at Tk234,038.

This is the 101st time BAJUS has adjusted gold prices in Bangladesh this year. Prices have been raised 50 times, reduced 50 times and adjusted once for VAT.
