Iran and Pakistan’s shared interests and destiny are more closely intertwined than ever, and that reality has doubled the need for close coordination and cooperation, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said in a message marking the 79th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence.
Iranian media reported that the message, addressed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, described the occasion as a valuable opportunity to recall the achievements of the Pakistani nation and as a fresh juncture on the path to deepening the long-standing and strategic relationship between the two countries.
The Iranian president said the deep historical, cultural, civilisational and people-to-people ties between the two countries were a valuable asset for opening brighter horizons in bilateral relations. The shared interests and destiny of Iran and Pakistan were more closely bound together than at any previous time, he said, and that reality had doubled the need for closer coordination and cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad.
Pezeshkian said Iran was emphasising its firm determination to further strengthen relations with Pakistan, and was ready to take more effective steps to reinforce ties and safeguard the two nations’ common interests in a spirit of mutual trust and respect, drawing on the substantial capacities that already exist.
