One person died of dengue and 163 patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in the past 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services said on Wednesday.
The division-wise breakdown of new hospitalizations showed Barisal division (outside city corporations) with 46 cases, Chattogram division 27, Dhaka division 23, Dhaka North City Corporation 8, Dhaka South City Corporation 17, Khulna division 24, Mymensingh division 24, and Rajshahi division 4.
A total of 161 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals in the same period. So far this year, 5,793 patients have been discharged. As of July 1, the total number of dengue infections this year stands at 6,267, of which 62.2 percent are male and 37.8 percent female.
The total number of dengue deaths this year has reached 19.
For comparison, in 2025, a total of 102,861 dengue cases and 413 deaths were recorded. In 2024, the figures were 101,214 cases and 575 deaths. The worst year on record was 2023, with 321,179 cases and 1,705 deaths.
