Five more children die of measles, over 1,100 new cases reported

Five more children have died with measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, and 1,107 new cases of measles and related symptoms were detected, the Directorate General of Health Services reported on Friday.

In the past 24 hours, 968 suspected measles cases were identified. The cumulative number of suspected measles cases from March 15 to July 3 has reached 103,961. Confirmed measles cases in the same 24-hour period totaled 139, bringing the cumulative confirmed total to 12,425.

Since March 15, a total of 87,262 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalized, of whom 83,543 have been discharged. The total number of children who have died with suspected measles symptoms since March 15 stands at 636. No deaths from confirmed measles were reported in the past 24 hours; the cumulative confirmed measles death toll since March 15 is 93.
