Leaders and activists of Juba Dal and other BNP affiliated and associate organisations have held a protest march in Jhalakathi to prevent any anarchy by the banned Awami League.

On Tuesday (June 23) morning, leaders and activists of the district units of Juba Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, Sramik Dal and other BNP affiliated and associate organisations marched across the town.

Earlier, the municipal BNP had marched on Monday noon and the district Chhatra Dal in the evening. Various slogans were chanted from these marches in protest at attempts by the banned Awami League and its associate organisations to create anarchy.

The convener of the district Juba Dal, Shamim Talukder, said all political activities of the Awami League were currently banned. ‘Fearing that the party’s activists might cause unwanted and untoward incidents around the Awami League’s founding anniversary on June 23, we are out and vocal on the streets. We will not allow any anarchy in peaceful Jhalakathi,’ he said.

For several days, activists of the banned Awami League had been campaigning on Facebook and other social media about observing the party’s founding anniversary on Tuesday, June 23. The police directed maximum vigilance so that no one could create any anarchy or disorder over the matter.
